PlayStation 2 Online – January 26th 2005
Since Jan 26th 2005 the world of online gaming has experienced a Bitta Somethin’ Extra.
After a succession of disappointments with other clans on Killzone, one Andy Roberts - Legend, decided to set up his own, with the help of his mate Adam Bailey - Bails. (They still argue to this day as to who came up with the name.) Another 6 people were needed to form a complete team, and very shortly after formation, the recruiting process began. First up was Punisher, now known as WoRdpLay, followed by Weasel. Then came PhaseOne, Mazman, Bridgo and Flair. Together we played our first match against Legend’s former clan, CoM and lost. However, the team spirit was strong and we didn’t give up, knowing that things could only get better.
In the months that followed, we recruited many players and beat some of the best clans. During this time, TimeSplitters Future Perfect came along, and despite not having the popularity of Killzone, the online clan ladder was dominated by BsE from day one. Then came Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, and it allowed us to merge the two games’ players into one unstoppable team. We were lodged firmly atop the BF2 ladders and barely moved anywhere else right from the beginning, both in our Clan and Triples forms. (The latter managing to bag a tourney win) After that we went onto Socom 3 and MGS3: Subsistence and did well at both, but by now the PS2 online scene was drying up. Since then we\'ve been saving ourselves for the European release of the Playstation 3 and Resistance Fall of Man, which at the time of writing is tantalisingly close and awaiting a good beasting.
PlayStation 3 Online, Resistance: Fall Of Man – March 29th 2007
Most PS2 online members purchased the PS3 on the day of release with only one thing in mind, total online domination. We had been awaiting the release of this console for sometime now and R:FOM to go with it. Although a good few members from our PS2 squad bought a PS3 we were still short and decided to recruit a few new players. Some of these players were previous PS2 online legends from TimeSplitters 3 who were now clanless on the PS3. Such people as XUnit and Diesel- Zee were among these. As with any new console it has brand new players and we picked up on this new talent very quickly. We went on to recruit such players as TooMuchFluxation, Darbo and Lyall who looked very promising and proved to be a great asset in the later stages of this game.
We started as we meant to go on and played anyone and everyone on the ConsoleGaming R:FOM clan ladder to try and become the number 1 clan in Europe on it. This proved to be the right attitude and within a few months we had held number 1 spot from the start of the ladder. We maintained an unbeaten record of an astounding 35-0 over this period of time beating all the top clans and any other clan that challenged us. We also entered the ConsoleGaming R:FOM clan tournament and managed to bag 1st place in that as well. At the same time that this was going on a Quads Tournament was being played as well. We had 2 teams entered in this, with both making it to the last brackets, making it a BsE v BsE final. That being the case we got 1st and 2nd place in the R:FOM quads tournament.
PlayStation 3 Online, Rainbow 6: Vegas – June 29th 2007
After months of playing this game and dominating it from the go we decided to retire and move on to another game. A game that had just been released around the same time was Rainbow 6 Vegas. Most of us were not to keen on this game but as it was something different we decided to give it a try. Just like R:FOM we played anyone and everyone from the go and held 1st place on the ladder for the 1st couple of weeks. However as this game was plagued by lag and extreme camping we decided this wasn’t a game for us and retired pretty quickly. We went on to have a break from online gaming for a while until a new game was released.
PlayStation 3 Online, WarHawk – August 27th 2007
With news about a new game called WarHawk being released on August 27th we decided for this to be our next clan game. Just like all the other games we had been on we played as many clan wars possible from the game release to hold and maintain number 1 spot. Although this game was very fun it seemed to be pretty inactive on the ConsoleGaming ladders. This resulted in it being hard to find many clan matches and also resulted in us as a clan becoming in active on it. We entered the ConsoleGaming WarHawk tournament just after the ladder started but ended up getting knocked out in the quarterfinals due to us being inactive on the game and not practising enough. Due to this game being pretty inactive we decided to call it a day and await the release of Call of Duty 4 in the next few months.
PlayStation 3 Online, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – November 9th 2007
We dived straight into this with everyone in the Clan looking to repeat the domination and success we had on RFOM, the only difference being this time round there would be more teams meaning stiffer competition, but none the less we manged to rack up a mass streak of wins on consolegaming.eu setting a new record for the highest win streak. Unfortunately with any sport you will suffer a loss at some point but overall we managed to finish the season top of the ladder with an impressive 82 wins and only 3 losses.
Mean while our quads team was also showing the other Clans the way, winning both the ladder and the 4v4 tournement and finishing with an impressive record of 45 wins and 1 loss.
Looking to take our domination of the game further afield we decided to compete on the popular American site Gamebattles.com where we showed that our team work and skill was unmatched, finishing top of the ladder and winning the play-offs, finishing that season with an amazing 98-0, which we followed up by winning a further 21 games the following season to leave us with a record of 119-0!
Although the game remained extremely popular we had played the game to death by now and felt that there was nothing left for us to prove so we decided to draw a line under CoD4 and wait for the next competitive online game.
PlayStation 3 Online, Uncharted 2 – October 16th 2009
After excellent reviews and a very promising looking beta we decided to have a small squad dedicated to Uncharted 2, partly to pass some time, but also to show the rest of the competitive PS3 scene that we hadn't lost our touch, which we did by immediately knocking the favorites out of the tournament in the first round. We have won the seasonal Tournament for the game and currently remain undefeated.
There's even been some activity on the PSL from some of us, and we've managed to win the 1st and 3rd place in the 1on1 PSL U2 Opening-Cup and will remain active on the 1on1 Ladder.
