Even people who regard Jeremy Clarkson as a kind of bubble-haired Antichrist have to admit that Top Gear is fantastically well put together. No production takes more pains filming and editing; nobody comes up with crazier or more entertaining ideas. If you caught the Ford Fiesta test involving the Royal Marines in the last series, you'll know what I mean. So with each new series, the question becomes more insistent: can they keep it up? Preview discs are never available in advance, but the challenge dominating tonight's edition sounds promising: a race from London to Edinburgh between the presenters, with James May in a glorious Jaguar XK120, Richard Hammond on a Vincent Black Shadow motorbike and, best of all, Clarkson in blue overalls shovelling coal into the boiler of the Tornado steam train all the way. Poop poop!

The Stig is Ben Collins. It got leaked from Belgium TV show but BBC copyrighted all of the clips and got removed from Youtube, also London Telegraph found out at the end of last series. No way is it Michael Schumaker!

Yep, and the only reason (well rumour) Schumaker was in this episode was because Ferrari wouldn't allow just anyone to drive that car and because Schumaker owns that one that was on the track he would fit well into it.

Yeah, I can see the weekly 'reveal' thing happening too. Love this show though and I'm glad it's back. The race was pretty meh however.

The FXX was absolutly amazing. One of my fave cars now after THAT lap.

And did anyone notice the Bugatti Veyron getting raped in the little highlights reel at the top of the show? I want to know what car that was lol.

the car looked abit like the mclaren F1, but not sure as it was quick. the FXX looked ok, basicly an enzo front with an F40 rear.

but buying one just for track races? fuck that, id rather buy a track car thats more fun and that i can drive on the road whenever i like, would be alot cheaper too.

The FXX however shouldnt be allowed on the board - i was expecting them to remove it last night , but they didnt! i was not impressed! a non road legal car on the board - no no no

I know they said that bit about dropping it off at a racetrack but that doesnt mean you legally couldn't drive it on the road as well.

And I thought the FXX was fuck ugly, although you could tell very early on in the lap that it was gonna top the board.

It's also got to be able to get over a speed bump, which I'm not sure it would manage. Should have been taken off like the Caparo and the DBR9
