If i pass in April, i'll be driving (obviously). Anyway, i'll need insurance and i think everyone knows its a rip-off for 1st time drivers.
Just wondering for anyone who has got their car insured after they've passed, what was the cheapest place to get insured, on what car and how much was it all together?
Basically..
Car:
Engine size (litre):
Type of insurance: Fully comprehensive/3rd party/3rd party fire and theft
Annual cost:
Insurance company:
Just basically any tips on getting insurance as cheap as possible, i'm looking to get either a clio 1.2 or a 206 1.1
Pass plus worth it?
HELP :)

that was definately 3rd party, i know for a fact that 206's are the most expensive car to insure(hatchback ofc) for a young driver. Clio's are for chavs and girls saint. Get a 1.25 Fiesta, love teh red ones. My mate just got a 2.0 Fiesta ST, black with white stripes...is savage.

206's are the most expensive? they're like 1.1, i assumed they'd be cheapest.
The new fiesta or old fiesta? love the new fiestas but not too fond of the old ones (shape wise). dont have enough to buy a new shape fiesta and insure it
2 litre first car?

Try a pug 106 or 306.

I have a 1.4L 306 and love it :D
Car: Pug 306
Engine size (litre): 1.4
Type of insurance: Fully comprehensive/3rd party/3rd party fire and theft : Fully comp
Annual cost: 2k
Insurance company: Direct line.
Would like to point out Pass Plus is NOT worth doing. It costs a lot of money and the money you save will be around the same you spend on Pass Plus. My mate spent like 200 for his and saved 150, so didn't save him in the long run.
Also any site like Maz posted will add a few hundred on so they can make some money out of it. What you should do is go around each site (long and boring I know) get a quote and if it's half decent ring up and they will knock more of the price for you. I got quoted £2100 and I rang up got it for 2k and free brake down cover.
Try getting a quote for both 3rd and fully comp because it was 50 pound more expensive for me to go 3rd party for some reason lol.

legend ur a mug.....gettin ripped off
the smaller ur engine the lower insurance rating, 306 is about 5 if u get 1.4
but u wanna try and avoid cars that will be blacklisted as known chav machines...like fiestas, clios, escorts
u can really get ur insurance down if u tell them ur not gonna be doin many miles...say 5000 max.
only get 3rd party.... fully comp is a waste esp as u only wanna get a banger for ur first year, and for full comp u'll take it up the ass pipes money wise.
u can use those comparison sites but i would suggest using tesco.com.... ad apparently they have a youngdriver policy so u wont get to ripped off, plus they dont charge much to pay in monthly installments......... if u find a car u like, type the details into tesco.com n get ur quote up.if its more than £1500 then its not worth it.
remember when doin those things.....u dont want: legal cover, courtesy car and make sure u put ur excess at atleast £250........n always play down the value of ur car n if ur family home has a garage tell them ur car will be kept in their even if it wont

oh goin on ur parents insurance is fail........these companies get u in the end u might as well start on ur own insurance, then u can build ur own no claims n it'll help u to get insured on much better cars in a few years

You can still build up no claims on your parent's insurance. I do ^_^
Anyone got a list of group 1 cars btw?

maz thats coz ur a tool..... the catch of that is that if ur with norwich union for example then u will only build up a no claims discount with Norwich Union....so when u wanna insure urself only ur stuck with Norwich Union, knowin this they can charge u what they like, ur only other choice is to go to a different company where ur no claims wont b applicable n u'll be back to 0 again...........
these ppl aint stupid... they WILL ALWAYS get u in the end........ur gonna get raped for year 1 insurance there is no escape
group 1: C1, iygo, 107, basically those tiny motors made by toyota n badged up by citeron and pugeot

nah was his 2nd car, but he is 24,although had only been driving a year.
and not the new new ones, the previous ones.
and yeah 206's are the most expensive hatchback to insure, a 1.1 cost my mate jay who's 21 and got 1 years no claims 1200 fully comp. Which is pretty expensive considering i got quoted that for a 1.4 MG ZR lol
1.6k for fully comp
for 1.4 punto sporting brand new at time 07 reg
directline
5 years no claims come may wen im ere
